About Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens
The Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens (HKZBG) is the oldest park in Hong Kong, situated on the northern slope of Victoria Peak in Central. Established in 1864, the gardens span approximately 5.6 hectares and are divided into two sections by Albany Road, connected by a pedestrian underpass. The gardens are home to over 160 bird species and around 90 mammal and reptile species, making it an important conservation facility. The botanical collection features hundreds of species of tropical and subtropical plants. The eastern section, known as the Old Garden, offers a children playground, aviaries, a greenhouse, and a fountain terrace garden, while the western section focuses on mammal and reptile exhibits. Admission is free. The HKZBG is managed by LCSD and provides a tranquil green retreat in the heart of Hong Kong.
