Inland Revenue Department

The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) is the Hong Kong government authority responsible for administering tax legislation and collecting revenue for the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The IRD manages a broad range of tax matters including profits tax, salaries tax, property tax, stamp duty, business registration, and hotel accommodation tax. It offers electronic services through the eTAX platform, enabling businesses and individuals to file returns and make tax payments online. The department issues annual profits tax, property tax, and employer returns, and publishes regular guidance on tax compliance. The IRD plays a central role in supporting Hong Kong's internationally recognised simple and low-tax business environment.
