Upon realising that the accounting standards in Hong Kong varied from, on the one hand, comparable to those of any major financial centres to, on the other hand, those falling short of acceptable level, Michael C.C.

Yam recognised the opportunity for provision of improved accounting and auditing services at a reasonable fee level in Hong Kong. He abandoned his plan of migrating to Canada and, in May, 1975, commenced practice on his own account in Hong Kong. The Firm has grown from 2 employees to approximately 30 since that time, now occupying 4,000 sq. ft. at 9th Floor, China Overseas Building, 139 Hennessy Road, Wanchai, HONG KONG.Michael C. C. Yam passed away in January, 1997. The three surviving partners have pledged to carry on the tradition of the Firm in the provision of professional services of the highest standard and quality. Founded in 1975, Michael Yam & Company provides high-standard accounting and auditing services in Wan Chai. They serve an international client base and are recognized as an HKICPA Authorized Employer.
